The Rainbow Wrasse (Thalassoma Quinquevittatum), has a multitude of common names including Five-Striped Surgeonfish, Five-Striped Rainbowfish, Red-Ribbon Wrasse, Pinkface Wrasse, Lunate-Tailed Wrasse, Five-Striped Wrasse, Pinkface Rainbowfish.

This species will add bright coloration and movement to the aquarium making this species a great addition for the novice or expert alike. its head is rusty red with cerulean blue stripes. Its body is emerald green transitioning to blue at the tail, with horizontal stripes of bright magenta. Its belly is lemon to silver, and its dorsal fin has an orange stripe with a black spot near its head. It is also known as the Five Stripe, or Pink Faced wrasse. Juveniles are more slender and mainly turquoise and magenta.

This hardy fish should reside in a 70 gallon or larger aquarium, with other aggressive tank mates, and plenty of rocks for hiding. Wrasses prefer to have a 2-inch sand pad so they can burrow into the sand to sleep or when they feel threatened. Wrasse are considered jumpers make sure your aquarium has a tight-fitting canopy or screen cover to prevent the Wrasse from jumping out of your aquarium.

Most species may be kept in pairs or harems as long as they are added together or females first. They do not appreciate living with other species of wrasse, so any aquarium with several species must be large enough and the most peaceful species added first. It will become territorial and often harass any new additions to the aquarium, therefore, it should be one of the last fish added to the tank. This species has been known to eat mantis shrimp and bristleworms as well as other crustaceans, but will normally not eat corals or live plants.

The Pinkface Wrasse diet should include vitamin enriched frozen mysis shrimp, vitamin enriched frozen brine shrimp, and other meaty foods along with a high quality marine flake and marine pellet food. They should be fed two to three times a day
