Fiji Blue Devil Damselfish (Chrysiptera Taupou) is known under many different common names in English, such as Fiji Blue Devil, Tonga Blue Devil Damsel, Southseas Devil, South Seas Devil, South Sea Demoiselle, and Village Belle.

The Fiji Blue Devil Damselfish is an absolutely stunning fish. The male fish is blue with a yellow belly and whitish chest. His sides are adorned with numerous yellowish spots and you can see a whitish line on the abdomen posteriorly. The dorsal fin is blue, but the pelvic and anal fins are all yellowish. The caudal fin is both blue and yellow – blue anteriorly and yellowish posteriorly. In many specimens, the dorsal fin base sports a black eye-spot. The female fish looks quite similar to the male, but most parts of her dorsal fin is yellowish and it gets transparent posteriorly.Juveniles look similar to the adult fish, but the yellow dots are paler in juveniles that in adults. They can get up to 3 inches.

This fish will require an aquarium of at least 30 gallons with plenty of rock for hiding. The aquarium should contain plenty of hiding spots as well as open water for swimming.

It is very aggressive to other small fishes especially damsel and clown fishes. It is recommended to raise them in the large fish tank. Damsels can become very territorial as they become established in the aquarium. This fish should not be put with other damsels like itself. Fiji Blue Devel Damselfish are reef safe.

As to diet, a meaty diet, e.g., live fortified brine shrimp and/or finely chopped various frozen or fresh meaty foods such as mysis, squid, fish flesh, shrimp, clam and plant material, e.g., flake foods, especially those containing Spirulina should be offered several times daily.
